An Autumn Journey Through Time
Traveling Through the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Rhaetian Railway
As soon as you take a seat in the historic carriages of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), the hustle and bustle of everyday life fades away. It is a journey for the senses: the rhythmic clatter of the wheels and the nostalgic scent of wood and metal instantly transport travelers to another era. Especially in the fall, the route from Davos to Filisur transforms into a golden spectacle, when the larch trees glow in vibrant orange and the sun peeks out from behind the freshly snow-capped peaks of Graubünden.
The Viaduct Shuttle is an absolute must for any photography enthusiast. Thanks to the new stop, you can reach the viewpoint in just a few minutes to enjoy the spectacular view of the famous Landwasser Viaduct. The fact that no special ticket is required for this part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site or for the historic train makes the experience particularly hassle-free.
If you want to discover Graubünden in all its diversity, the best way to do so is with the “Silberdistel” fall promotion. With the Graubünden Pass (starting at just 37 CHF), you can travel all over the canton for an entire day. This flexibility lets you hop off the bus on a whim, take photos, and discover hidden gems like Lej Nair above Scuol. The deep black lake in the Lower Engadine is one of those places you might otherwise have overlooked—or at least I would have.
