Quinten is known for its mild climate and terraced vineyards that wind their way up the steep mountain slopes. Especially in the spring, the sun warms the village and brings the vines to life. Take the opportunity to stop by one of the cozy taverns to enjoy a glass of wine or a delicious lunch. If you’re hiking early in the year, keep in mind that not all restaurants are open. During a visit in mid-March, for example, only Restaurant Tremondi was open, where we enjoyed a delicious risotto. For a relaxed hike, it’s a good idea to check in advance which restaurants are open and what the boat schedules are so you can plan your time in Quinten perfectly.

Return trip or extension

From Quinten, you can easily take a boat back to Murg and continue your journey by train to Zurich or Chur. If you miss your train in Murg, you can stop by the Sagibeiz for a quick break and enjoy a delicious dessert.

For those who haven’t had their fill yet, the region around Lake Walen offers numerous other hiking trails. For example, you can hike from Quinten to Walenstadtberg and take the bus back to Walenstadt from there. From Walenstadt, you can take a train ride home.

Alternatively, you can stay overnight in Quinten and enjoy this little paradise at your leisure. This allows you to experience the special atmosphere of the car-free village and the beauty of the surrounding area even more intensely.
